This is a quick animation I developed for a class I’m taking this quarter “Intro. to Digital Animation”. The class deals primarily with adobe Adobe After Effects. I’ve use Adobe Premiere and Apple video products before so After Effects wasn’t entirely foreign to me but definitely has some unique features.
This is supposed to be a “slate” or something that’s used to brand our future pieces. I really liked the ability to use 3d and the camera so this piece makes use of those features.
Responsibilities: All Video Design / Motion / Sound
I recently took a course in Rich Internet Application development which focused on the snazzy new Adobe Flex 2 (now Flex 3) platform. This was an amazing course because Flex is being hyped up as the next big thing in RIA development because it runs in the highly pervasive Flash Player plugin (booyah silverlight!). The structure for the course was a rigorous 10week development session in which we would conceive, design, and develop a Flex application and integrate it with some type of stateful data storage.
As usual I wanted to develop something useful, and something that would allow me to integrate Flex with a technology that would be used in the real world- so I opted to integrate it with PHP and MYSQL. Even though this part of it wasn’t required, I felt it really made the experience that much more useful.
When we were assigned to develop a widget for one my courses using the Yahoo Widget Engine, I wanted to create something I would actually use. Honda-Tech.com is a forum I like to visit when I need information on my car or when I need to find good deals on used car parts. Naturally this leads me to checking the forums several times a day. Opening a browser and clicking a bunch of links to view topics isn’t hard, but I think I can make it easier. So I developed this Yahoo Widget which works using RSS feeds that Honda-Tech publishes. The widget allows you to browse all the forums from one central location, as well as see the latest posts in each forum. Additionally it automagically updates every 3min to always keep you on top of things.
In a nutshell Decision Lens Web Suite is a web-enabled version of desktop software that is also offered through Decision Lens.
The application is pretty cool, it allows real-time collaborative decision making from remote locations while avoiding the ominous “group think” dilemma by using AHP (Analytical Heirarchy Process) to weight the priorities of the users involved in the decision, as well as the group overall. Its pretty cool stuff and has many applications.
The web version i was responsible for is written primarily in web-based platform which utilizes realtime connections to provide users with a collaborative and engaging decision making process. Because the application is web-based it is accessible from almost any computer on earth with an internet connection. Exciting stuff!
Well im tired of trying to track down other blogs, and other people near me who are involved in flash / flex / IT / blogging in general / local events.
So im starting “The College Blog Network” to attempt to create some type of index of blogs, and bloggers who live and go to school around me / with me. For now I am the one man design/development/database guy behind this, hoping to get some more developers someday cause i got so many cool features planned but so little time.
Visual Herb is another site of mine. I run my desktop at 1600×1200 which is a pretty massive resolution. Needless to say i want my wallpaper to look good, but at this resolution finding hi-res FREE wallpapers is damn near impossible. So I started making my own wallpapers and posting them for others to use!
The site is based in html/php/mysql and there is a back end CMS [Content Managerment System] which allows me to easily add and edit wallpaper entries. I want to eventually turn it into a public “community” site where everyone can upload but I just haven’t had the time yet!
